Leigh is Fat

"You have such a pretty face..." is at the top of the list of offensive passive aggressive remarks made to me by moronic imbeciles I've been unfortunate enough to encounter throughout my life. The "but," is rarely spoken and it's not hard to figure out why.

Despite the attempts to shun, shame, wound, banish and silence us, the number of entries on these pages of fat links are a testament to the fact that we're not fading away, shrouding ourselves, dieting down or shutting up, even if sizism is the last safe prejudice for fashion victims, frat boys, corporate whores, PC boomers and genXers everywhere.

Among the information, zines, wares and intelligence I've collected for this section, the home pages in lives are the most interesting and informative of all. They belong to people I might like to know. People inside whose shoes I'd like to stand for a moment.

My criteria for these entries are: a minimum of the sap you'll find on most personal sites; absence of self-pity and self-loathing; a slightly-to-extremely skewed world/political view; body- and sex-positive content in some form, whether textual or graphical, and; at least an attempt at aesthetic pleasantness and standards-compliant code. In other words, stop eMailing me with your URL if I continue to refuse to list your site. It's my loss, I'm certain, but it's my choice.

That said, some of the fat sites I've selected are proof that I'm not an aesthetics or code snob. We can't all be great designers like you, so bear with the trailer park sensibility, panelling and plastic flowers (in some cases), and pay attention to the content. Though, you'll find some beautifully designed and skillfully coded sites burried here, as well.
